The coronavirus pandemic has underlined trends already underway, but that have been exacerbated in the last few months: the increase in poverty and inequality, the importance of the welfare state and the urgency of the climate crisis. How will the ruling class respond to these problems? The crisis of the four “fundamental political forces” in the last few years - neoliberals, nationalists, social democrats and environmentalists – is already evident.
