Emeritus Professor at Warwick Business School, at the University of Warwick in the UK, he is an external scientific member of the Max-Planck-Institute for Social Research in Cologne. He previously taught sociology at the LSE, was a fellow and tutor in politics at Trinity College, Oxford, and Professor of Sociology at the University of Oxford. From 1995 to 2004 he was Professor of Sociology at the European University Institute in Florence. He is the author of various publications on comparative European sociology and industrial relations, economic sociology, and contemporary issues related to British and European politics.
